  1. What is this coach education program about?

This program specifically trains coaches specializing in coaching adolescents and young adults.

  1. Who is this program designed for?

The program targets people who work with adolescents and young adults, such as school heads and school principals, youth pastors, youth mentors, teachers and parents.

  1. What are the key learning outcomes?

Coaches will gain:

  • Mastery of ethically grounded coaching practices.
  • Confidence in engaging and supporting adolescents and young adults.
  • The ability to create transformative coaching experiences for adolescents and young adults
  • How does this program differ from other coach training programs?
  • This program focuses on knowledge, tools and techniques tailored to the developmental and contextual needs of adolescents and young adults.

    Yes, this program has received provisional Level 1 Accreditation from the International Coaching Federation

    Program Structure & Content

    1. What topics are covered in the curriculum?

    Topics include psychological development in adolescence and emerging adulthood, coaching models and frameworks, as well as coaching ethics.

    1. How is the program delivered (online, in-person, hybrid)?

    The program is delivered online.

    1. How long does the program take to complete?

    Program duration is 4 months. 2 full days per month for 3 months, plus mentor coaching sessions and fieldwork in between classroom sessions, and then a final assessment in the 4th month.

    1. What is the weekly time commitment?

    The total estimated time for the full program is 74 hours spread over 4 months.

    1. Is there a practical coaching component (e.g., mentor coaching, practice sessions)?

    Yes, the program includes knowledge sharing, observed practice sessions, mentor coaching and client coaching.

    Enrollment & Admission

    1. What are the admission requirements?

    Looking for people already working with adolescents  and young adults, and who  demonstrate passion for these groups, value coaching (have probably benefitted from professional coaching themselves) and can commit to 6 full days (2 days a month for 3 months) plus mentor coaching hours (10, flexible timing). They likely have an advanced level of education (the course is in English, assessment includes a presentation in English and a couple of essays in English). They will do an attitude assessment and a short pre acceptance interview.

    1. Do I need prior coaching experience to enroll?

    No.

    1. When can I start the program? Are there specific enrollment periods?

    Next cohort begins 14th April. Dates for this cohort are as follows: 14th/15th April; 19th/20th May; June 16/17. Assessment days to be advised.

    Certification & Credentials

    1. What certification will I receive upon completion?

    You will receive a Diploma and the designation CAYC – Certified Adolescent and Young Adult Coach

    1. Will this program help me obtain an ICF credential or other professional certification?

    This program meets the requirements of a Level 1 ICF accredited coach training program that allows you to apply for the ACC credential. Do note that additional requirements include passing an exam administered by the ICF.

    1. How can I use this certification in my career?

    There are several pathways for a professional Certified Coach of Adolescents and Young Adults. Read more here.

    1. Can I receive continuing education credits (CEUs) for this program?

    This program exceeds the minimum requirement of 60 foundational coach training hours set by the ICF.

    1. Is there an assessment or final evaluation to complete the program?

    Yes. Participants will be required to submit 2 reflective essays, to make an 8 to10-minute presentation and to have completed all classroom sessions, taken 10 mentor coaching sessions (includes submitting a recorded coaching session that is assessed) and submitted a client coaching log amounting to 10 hours.

    Support & Resources

    1. What kind of support will I receive during the program?

    Participants receive a workbook which includes various guidelines to help with learning, including access to articles in the learning management system (LMS). Faculty are available to answer questions during sessions.

    1. Are there mentoring or supervision opportunities?

    The program includes mentor coaching, and we are working on making supervision accessible as well.

    1. Will I have access to course materials after completing the program?

    Participants have lifetime access to the LMS.

    1. Is there a community or alumni network for graduates?

    Yes, an alumni community will be created as soon as we have the first lot of graduands.

    1. Can I receive feedback on my coaching practice?

    Observed practice is part of the training program. This allows participants to receive feedback from both faculty and peers.

    Cost & Payment

    1. What is the cost of the program?

    The program cost is 440,000/- KES. A payment plan is available. Please request this when making your application.

    1. Are there any additional costs, such as materials or exam fees?

    No. The fees cover all training and exam costs. However, there is a fee for the optional Business course, which is discounted for graduands of the program.

    Post-Program Opportunities

    1. Can I start my own coaching practice after completing this program?

    We include an optional ‘The Business of Coaching Course’  after passing the assessment. This will help you set up your own practice if that is the direction you would like to take.

    1. Are there advanced courses or continuing education options after this program?

    Not yet, but it is something that we plan on introducing.

    1. How can I stay connected with the program and its community after graduation?

    We will create a community group and endeavour to maintain activities that keep you connected.
